Here’s what our students said about learning with us….
“The classes are fun and progressive, they slowly nudge me out of my comfort zone”
Before I started with Dance Kizomba I was fairly new to the dance but had a reasonable grasp of the basic steps. My repertoire of moves was extremely limited. I didnt have any reservations about joining the class as I had seen Fran teach a few times at local events and thought her style of teaching would suit me, it did! The classes are fun and progressive, they slowly nudge me out of my comfort zone without causing my to get disheartened at the pace. The best thing about learning to dance Kizomba is the greatly improved ability to lead and therefore have more enjoyable dances for the lady and myself.
“Learning was very good, great detailed instructions”
Before coming to Dance Kizomba’s Classes I was looking for traditional Kizomba classes as have done quite a bit of UrbanKiz. I was also in a need for a push and help with body movement. Learning was very good, great detailed instructions. As a result I have improved body movement and following skills
“It was ‘all fire’ as we say in Portugal”
I attended the free ‘Get connected’ taster class. It was ‘all fire’ as we commonly say in Portugal. Before class I considered myself a bad dancer but the class was easy and straight forward. I need more practice for muscle memory though. The best thing was actually getting to know some steps and doing them right!
I had been to 1 or 2 Kizomba classes but I was very inexperienced. My reservations before starting were that my knowledge of Kizomba was limited and I didn’t know how quickly I could pick it up. The classes have been well structured with effective instruction to improve quickly and develop confidence in dancing. The best thing is definitely the improved confidence and meeting new people!
“I needn’t have worried as everyone was friendly and welcoming”
I had been learning kizomba for 15 months on and off with another teacher but then they stopped classes. I then found ‘Dance Kizomba’ classes by word of mouth and haven’t looked back! Fantastic teacher and I feel very motherly towards you!
I was initially worried about walking into a venue on my own and not knowing anyone. I needn’t have worried as everyone was friendly and welcoming. Its been a great consolidation and my confidence has grown plus I’ve made some lovely friends. I adore the music and at times I lose myself.
The best thing about learning to dance Kizomba is the compliments – being told by several dancers that I am a responsive follower and the greatest compliment was that I “danced like a snowflake”!
“clear and concise with strong focus on technique”
I signed up for the Get connected workshop because I had struggled to learn Kizomba in other classes. I found Fran’s teaching and explanation clear and concise with strong focus on technique and making long term good dancers. It was incredibly enjoyable!
Before I started the classes, I’d done some Kizomba classes before, but not for a long time, but had never really got into the social dancing scene. My reservations were the same as going anywhere new (finding a new venue, parking, new people etc), but your classes had been recommended to me and it was a nice, friendly group!
The learning process has been good and I really enjoy the classes.
“The class was excellent”
I loved the music and just needed to learn how to dance Kizomba! I tried lessons elsewhere but they weren’t suitable so I wasn’t happy with them because they didn’t make me feel comfortable. I didn’t have any reservations about booking on to the ‘Get Connected’ workshop, I just wanted to know I could progress at a steady rate. The class was excellent I learnt a lot and felt I really improved my body movement. The best thing is how enjoyable it was!
“The ‘one to one’ basis of private lessons also meant that I could progress at the right pace and to the best level for me”
“I had attended a small number of Kizomba workshops and random lessons over the years but never managed to transfer what I’d learned into my social dancing. Even with an experienced, solid leader I would often struggle to follow. It’s difficult for me to commit to a regular evening class because of my work commitments so really wanted lessons at a time to suit me. The ‘one to one’ basis of private lessons also meant that I could progress at the right pace and to the best level for me. (I have found the pace of some group lessons frustrating in the past!) I love to dance and I enjoy the process of learning a new skill but especially enjoy any lesson which has a clear and proper structure. Clearly, Fran was well-prepared and this made me happy! We covered the basics with a good mix of marking the steps and dancing; I also valued all the extra information she provided on musicality, her tips on technique and her thoughtful guidance throughout. I would recommend Fran’s private tuition to anyone wishing to progress their Kizomba dancing and look forward to progressing further myself in the future.”
